Independent cult film icon Ted V. Mikels joined us to talk about his lengthy carrer as a film maker. Mikels has created well known films such as The Astro-Zombies, The Corpse Grinders, and many others. The release of Mikel’s latest film, Astro-Zombies M3:Cloned, is set for sometime in 2010.

Ted shared talked about his many talents and many jobs from childhood to the present. As a child he performed magic for the neighborhood kids as well has building an arcade for them to play at. He was a sideshow caller for the Seal Boy and even had multiple roles in certain films. At one point, Ted even brought Tommy on to the show to yet show another talent of his, ventriloquism.

During the second hour, Robert Damon Schneck joined us to talk about an interesting development in Ouija board lore. Recently at PhantomCon in Hickory, NC, Ghost Hunters International’s Shannon Sylvia introduced a prototype planchette to test the reality behind the Ouija board. Alliecat, who was in attendane at PhantomCon, called in to share her thoughts on what she saw.

Even though set to talk about Buzz Aldrin, the conversation seemed to stay focus on news media, in particular, FOX News and Glen Beck. Olav discussed how FOX News has its own agenda and is pulling the wool over America’s eyes. This caused much debate in the chat room and even prompting some to call in and voice their opinion on the media.

The year is 1865. The town is Watseka. A young woman, Mary Roff, dies a mysterious death after a lifetime of fits and seizures that robbed her of her youth, her personality, and her soul. Many thought she was mentally ill. However, some thought her illness was something other than natural.

In the years following her death, her family - the Roff family - came to be convinced of the latter. They became Spiritualists, and they believed that the spirits of the dead were alive, and that under given circumstances they could bring messages to the living and even temporarily inhabit another body, dwelling for a time in an earthly home.

In 1877, twelve years after the death of Mary Roff, in the same town another girl, Lurancy Vennum, begins showing symptoms very similar to those of the deceased Mary. She has fits and seizures. She talks in strange languages and garbled speech. She claims to see people around her and takes on different personalities, as if possessed by the spirit of another.

For 100 days in the spring of 1878, Lurancy takes on the personality of Mary Roff, moves in with the Roff family, and has family members and townspeople convinced that she is the deceased Mary Roff. Was this a case of multiple personality disorder? A hoax? Or a case of spiritual possession?

The current owner of the Roff Home, John Whitman, joined us to discuss the case of the Watseka Wonder, which is the subject of a SyFy documentary called “The Possessed,” set to air on Thursday, October 8, at 9 pm EST / 8 pm CST.

Only broadcasting for an hour, the Paranormal Throwdown was played. Contestants included Don from NJ and Denise from PA. Constestants answered questions that were related to the paranormal and SITD. Denise walked away as the winner after some tough questions.
